Capio Diagnostik was established by two Danish doctors in 1932 under the name "Medicinsk Laboratorium". In 1997 the lab was incorporated into Capio, one of the leading private healthcare providers in Europe. The molecular biology unit at Capio Diagnostik was originally founded in 1993 under the name Professional Genetics Laboratory (PGL). The lab was incorporated into Capio Diagnostik in 2001, and was moved to Copenhagen in 2004.

Capio Diagnostics is Scandinavia's largest provider of radiology and laboratory services within Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Flow Cytometry, Pathology, and Microbiology. Each year Capio laboratories in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and the UK perform more than 8 million analyses.

The Danish based Capio Diagnostik focuses on quality, flexibility, and innovation, and has since 1932 provided esoteric clinical chemistry services
